The special outdoor grad student seminar meets once every now and then for a stimulating lecture held in an informal environment.
This term we were very lucky to have Mike Freedman. The talk was held in Noah Snyder's backyard, and refreshments were provided by Reimundo Heluani and the Miller institute.

This is a talk mainly for graduate students. I will tell some of the inside story of a recent paper with Walker and Calegari (check arxiv if interested). There were three scary parts, where a fall seemed likely. Two were resolved by effort and one by prayer.
